Eve Gentry (the Pilates Elder)

Eve Gentry (August 21, 1909– June 17, 1994) was a modern dancer, and later a Pilates master instructor. She was an original disciple of Joseph Pilates, and a master teacher of his technique to generations of instructors. She helped found the Dance Notation Bureau in New York City and later in 1991 she co-founded the Institute for the Pilates Method in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Eve Gentry's Dancer's Stu din halt a demonstration this werkend for invited guests, showing what students are accomplishing in the profession al training program which Miss Gentry has instituted.

The director came to Santa Fe two years age from a successful New York career, and, she said, has found working in Santa Fe challenging and exhilerating. These pictures show some of the activity at her studio.
